Our Mission

Who we are and why we are here

Our Backgrounds
David was born in New York state in 1961. He is thankful for a family who loved God and taught him the truths of God's Word. When he was young, David realized that he was a sinner, disobedient to God, and therefore deserving of eternal punishment. Yet he also saw that Christ's death and resurrection provided forgiveness and salvation to all who would repent of their sin and put their trust in the work of Christ for salvation. David confessed his sinfulness and asked God to save him.

David's family lived in several places in NY, CT, and PA. Believing that the Lord wanted him to share the wonderful news of salvation by grace through faith, David attended Bob Jones University and earned a B.A. in Bible in 1982.

Donna was born in St. Louis, MO in 1960. She is thankful for her loving family and their training. When she was in high school, she too realized that one could have salvation through Christ's work, and she accepted Him as her Savior.

Donna also attended Bob Jones University and earned a B.S. in Elementary Education in 1982.

David and Donna met in college and married in the summer of 1982. For the next four years, David was a graduate assitant teaching Greek while he earned an M.A. in Bible and an M.Div. degree. Donna worked in the University Press business office during this time. During the school year of 1986-87, they traveled for the University presenting the school to high school students.
In 1987 they were accepted as missionaries with Gospel Fellowship Association, a non-denominational mission agency in SC. Their home church is Hampton Park Baptist Church of Greenville, SC. In the fall of 1988, David and Donna arrived in Majuro, the capital atoll of the Marshall Islands.
John was born in November of 1991 and Dan in April of 1993. Donna home schools both boys, and we are so thankful for the family God has given us.
Our Desire
Our desire is that the Marshallese, and all people, come to rejoice in and glorify God for His salvation (Romans 15:9,10). Many people think that God will accept them if they are good or religious enough. Yet the Bible says that man is dead in his sins (Ephesians 2:1,2) and separated from God because of his sins (Isaiah 59:2). Man's sin is not simply accidentally doing wrong. We know better, and yet we often still chose to do wrong.

However, God in His grace made a way for man to be forgiven. Jesus, the perfect Son of God, took man's place and died for his sins. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says that God "made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." Man cannot earn salvation, for he has been a rebel against God, either ignoring Him or trusting in his own efforts to attain forgiveness. Yet the "wages of sin is death," (Romans 6:23), and only the death of a perfect Substitute can save him.

Romans 3:24 says that man is "justified [put in a right relationship with God] as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus." And Ephesians 2:8 and 9 teach us "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast."

What a joy to know that one can rely on the finished work of Christ for salvation!
